Studio Julian Charrière and Johannes Förster are offering a paid internship position for a hard worker and dedicated person comfortable with throwing themselves into a challenging environment working in the fields of video production as a part of a close-knit team.
About the artists:
Julian Charrière is a French-Swiss artist based in Berlin, Germany, whose work bridges the realms of environmental science and cultural history. Marshaling performance, sculpture, photography, and video, his projects often stem from fieldwork in remote locations with acute geophysical identities such as volcanoes, ice-fields, and radioactive sites. Deploying seemingly perennial imagery to contemporary ends, his interventions at the borderline of mysticism and the material encapsulate our fraught relations with place today.
About Johannes Förster:
Johannes Förster has been working in video production for well over a decade and is privileged to have collaborated with a range of incredible people of different background over the years, allowing him to draw from a wide field of experience and offer full production services. Johannes' projects cover the fields of documentary film, video art, and video installations, as well as commercial and editorial film. He works with medium- and large-format digital photography in addition to a variety of cinema and documentary camera systems. Drone technology and different sorts of motion-controlled video systems have recently become an increasingly important tool in his work. He has been a studio partner for the last years and has functioned as a collaborator and production manager for all of the most recent major video projects of Julian Charrière.
The internship will be full-time, Monday through Friday, usually 9.30am-6pm for 12 weeks. Let us know if you have any conflicts as we are willing to be flexible for the right person. Ideally, if we work well together, we would like to have someone become a more permanent fixture of our team.
Candidates must be highly-motivated, independent-thinking problem solvers. The studio is a busy place with many things going on all at once and the ideal intern will be someone who can boldly integrate themselves into the system, finding ways to be helpful at all times.
The intern will work most closely with Johannes and will represent an important junction between artist and specialists and developers from various fields of production. The intern will learn the multifaceted process of managing a complex production, gain valuable insights into the challenges of the international art world, and acquire essential skills for a career in the field.
We work with a large assortment of different types of people, so an open mind will be necessary and an unconventional way of thinking encouraged.
The internship will entail, but is not limited to:
• Preparation and implementation of shooting
• Post-production for film and photography (editing, color grading, etc.)
• Archival work
• Assist with installing Single- and Multi-channel video installations
• Written and spoken fluency in German and English
• Familiarity with MAC OS and Windows
• Great technical curiosity is a must, as we often have to move outside of given paths
• Willingness to travel and assist during production journeys
• Experience with Adobe Suite
